On the 11th day of Kindness the 5th grader had to read to someone younger than them. So we traveled up the hall to 1st grade and the room was a buzz of 1st and 5th graders reading to each other! We even stayed 5 minutes longer because they were having such a great time!

Word of the Day: Visceral something coming from or triggering an instinctive emotional (as opposed to intellectual) response. In medical contexts it means “of or related to internal organs of the body.” Although she is best known for her film and television roles, Sabrina much prefers the visceral excitement of acting on stage in front of an audience.
This day in history: On December 22, 1956, a baby gorilla named Colo enters the world at the Columbus Zoo in Ohio, becoming the first-ever gorilla born in captivity. Weighing in at approximately 4 pounds, Colo, a western lowland gorilla whose name was a combination of Columbus and Ohio, was the daughter of Millie and Mac, two gorillas captured in French Cameroon, Africa, who were brought to the Columbus Zoo in 1951. Before Colo’s birth, gorillas found at zoos were caught in the wild, often by brutal means. In order to capture a gorilla when it was young and therefore still small enough to handle, hunters frequently had to kill the gorilla’s parents and other family members.

From Mr. Greg Herbst, Ithaca Administrator:
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Friends of Ithaca Schools,
There was a medical event at Ithaca Schools earlier today, which I am proud to say was addressed very well by the professionals within the building. Unfortunately, in today’s society, this event was followed by some students posting and sharing messages on social media that are inaccurate.
Please take advantage of this teachable moment to educate your children about proper decorum when posting on social media and the importance of not posting or sharing information that you do not know to be true or is not of your personal concern.
Thank you.
Mr. Greg Herbst, Ithaca Administrator:

“Merry Christmas” is hung from the ceiling with care........
