History of Pac Mania and Bop it!

Pac-Mania

Pac-Mania was the ninth game for arcade machines that was developed and released by Namco in 1987. This game introduce a brand new feature for Pac-Man to be able to jump over ghosts to evade capture. Pac-Mania gained a highly positive reception for its uniqueness and gameplay. It was even nominated for "Best Coin-Op Conversion of the Year" at the Golden Joystick awards in 1987, although it lost to Taito's Operation Wolf.

Bop it!

In 1996, the instructions to a handheld voice game called Bop It were copyrighted. This game was the first of what was later to become a series of Bop It games. The original game featured three inputs, "Bop it!" a press-able button, "Twist it!" a twistable lever, and "Pull it!" a pullable handle. In 2008, Hasbro secured the copyrights to the instructions for Bop it. From there on Hasbro has made tons of different versions of Bop it that allowed for different inputs or to look like various fantasy characters.
