At 4:35 p.m. we received notification that the fiber splicing was for the most part complete. Shortly after that time the network connectivity at Ithaca returned. The school still may experience minor, brief outages or slow downs as backlogged data moves through the entire system. The good news is it looks as if things should be returned to normal by the start of classes tomorrow morning.

We would like to remind you that Ithaca has a scheduled early release tomorrow, Wednesday October 13th, 2021. Elementary releases at 12:10 p.m. - middle and high school release time is 12:36 p.m. thank you and have a great day

Hello all,
Here is the latest update on the fiber cut in Madison that is causing our network outage.
Update:
North end splicing has been completed. Splicing on the south end of the cable has begun, this is a 256 count cable. No ETR listed at this time.
We will send another update once one becomes available.
Thank you,
BNNOC

Here is the latest update concerning the network outage at Ithaca. This update has been provided by one of our umbrella partners. Fiber repair efforts remain ongoing at this time. The cause of the damage was a water main break in Madison that affected buried fibers. One end of the break has been exposed and prepared for repairs, excavation of the other end is currently in progress.
There is no ETR at this time.
We will continue to monitor this outage and provide updates as new information becomes available.

As you know, Ithaca experienced a network outage yesterday starting at 9:30 AM. This outage is affecting about 2 dozen other institutions as well.
Yesterday afternoon the outage was finally identified as having been caused by a Frontier fiber optic bundle being cut during a water main installation (location unknown at this time)
At of 3:30 am this morning the outage is still affecting all of the original institutions, including Ithaca.
I think it is safe to say the outage will last into our school day today. Anyone on site at Ithaca will NOT have access to internet (including but not limited to being without: Zoom, email, Schoology, Google drive - basically anything we would access on the internet will be impacted negatively).
As of now, we do have phones at Ithaca. Our telephone provider is Frontier so phone access COULD be impacted at some point in this process but they are functioning as of now.
We will utilize email, Facebook and calls to keep everyone informed as this situation progresses.
Thanks for your time, Adam

Ithaca is still without internet. If this continues, the board meeting will not have zoom capabilities. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We wanted to post this message to let you know that Ithaca is being affected by a wide Network outage that is also affecting many other institutions across the state of Wisconsin. What this means is in our building we have no access to internet, email, Zoom, or schoology. We will generate another alert when we have an ETA of correction or we have more information from our service provider.
