It's fall for all! Recently, First Graders read the story Pumpkin Circle by George Levenson. The students learned about different types of pumpkins, parts of a pumpkin, and how a pumpkin grows. After we read the story, the students enjoyed a craft about the pumpkin life cycle.

From Andrea Newkirk and Shawna Kitsembel:
Over 100 people attended our Family Reading Event featuring Zoo Zort last night! Thank you to all of the families that supported this event. Noelle Bezio, a USDA licensed animal educator, entertained families with her enthusiasm and knowledge of her animals. Students were able to see and touch many animals including a chinchilla, an armadillo, a wallaby, a fox, a python, and a kinkajou. We all learned so much new information about these animals. At the end of the evening, students were able to pick out an animal book to continue their learning. We are so grateful to Sam Hilby and the PTSO for the delicious walking tacos. A huge thank you to Frank Wastlick, Sue Meyer, and Ben Murphy for all your assistance in setting up and cleaning up, to Adam Hess for assisting with the sound system, Juli Thompson, Sheila Kitsembel, and Christine Schmitt for promoting the event and assistance throughout the process, and Brendan Wunnicke for being available for translating. We truly appreciate Mrs. Schoen, Ally Plonka, Abby Plonka, Tristen Peterson, Holly, King, and Kailey Newkirk for all of their assistance in setting up for the program, serving the meal, and cleaning up after the program.

The UW Platteville Women in STEM Career Day is a one-day event for high school women to learn about careers that require creative problem solving, encourage forward thinking, make a difference in society, and share the future of our world. The purpose of this program is to recruit more women in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.
Ithaca was represented by four young ladies who had the opportunity to explore so much in the STEM pathway: Abby Plonka, Ally Plonka, Izabela Oriz & Callie Muckler
A shout out to Mr. Fetterly for transporting and attending this event with the students. They also had the opportunity to meet the Chancellor and visit the Engineering, Mathematics and Science Dean's Office! How cool is that?!
