Here is the latest update concerning the network outage at Ithaca. This update has been provided by one of our umbrella partners. Fiber repair efforts remain ongoing at this time. The cause of the damage was a water main break in Madison that affected buried fibers. One end of the break has been exposed and prepared for repairs, excavation of the other end is currently in progress. There is no ETR at this time. We will continue to monitor this outage and provide updates as new information becomes available.

As you know, Ithaca experienced a network outage yesterday starting at 9:30 AM. This outage is affecting about 2 dozen other institutions as well. Yesterday afternoon the outage was finally identified as having been caused by a Frontier fiber optic bundle being cut during a water main installation (location unknown at this time) At of 3:30 am this morning the outage is still affecting all of the original institutions, including Ithaca. I think it is safe to say the outage will last into our school day today. Anyone on site at Ithaca will NOT have access to internet (including but not limited to being without: Zoom, email, Schoology, Google drive - basically anything we would access on the internet will be impacted negatively). As of now, we do have phones at Ithaca. Our telephone provider is Frontier so phone access COULD be impacted at some point in this process but they are functioning as of now. We will utilize email, Facebook and calls to keep everyone informed as this situation progresses. Thanks for your time, Adam

What this means is in our building we have no access to internet, email, Zoom, or schoology. We will generate another alert when we have an ETA of correction or we have more information from our service provider.
