On the 11th day of Kindness, the Fifth graders had to read to someone younger than them.
We set up time with the cute little kindergarteners to read stories.
Heather Thome, registered nurse at the Richland Hospital and member of the Richland Hospital Foundation has been working tirelessly to improve the cardiac health of Richland County. With the help of a health grant, Heather and the Richland Hospital were able to provide local schools with AED’s, many accessories for these devices, and a trainer for Nurse Wilson to utilize during training exercises with staff. Nurse Wilson and the Ithaca Safety Committee have been improving staff preparedness with CPR and Stop The Bleed training, and this donation generously helps to reach that goal. The Ithaca School District buildings are often centers for community events, and visitors can be assured most staff are trained in utilizing this equipment. The schools which benefited from this program are Ithaca and Riverdale.

The Ithaca alumni basketball tournament will be Saturday, January 4th. The women's game will start at 6 PM and the men's game will start at 7:30 PM. There will also be a 3-point contest starting at 5 PM. There is a $5 donation to play in the games to benefit the Ithaca Basketball Programs. Ithaca youth girls will be participating in a Fun Day Tournament at Weston on Saturday, January 4th. We will have 3 teams in it: a 2nd grade team, a 3rd grade team, and a 5th grade team. The 2nd grade team will be made up of a mixture of 1st and 2nd graders, the 3rd grade team will be a mixture of 2nd and 3rd graders, and the 5th grade team will be a mixture of 4th and 5th graders. It runs from 8 AM to 11:30 AM. We will share the schedule when we receive it. We will also send another announcement out on who will be on what team once we know more. We will not have practice that day. They will have concessions available, and it costs $2 for admission.

We will continue to announce birthdays at the beginning of the school day; however, they will no longer be listed on the announcements that are sent to the general public.

Ithaca elementary students participated in Computer Science Education Week from December 9-15, 2024. Early elementary students coded bee bot robots to retell the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle as well as re-creating an insect dance, and older students learned more advanced computer coding skills, such as loops, sequences, and debugging using Code.org lessons on their Chromebooks.
Ithaca students wanted to spread warmth and peace by sending Christmas cards to soldiers this holiday season. We filled a box with over 100 cards! We will be mailing this box to an Army base in Georgia. 📬 🎄
