The Ithaca School District is actively seeking an energetic, team-oriented, student-centered individual to serve as Middle/High School Principal. The principal hired for this role, his/her contract will begin July 1, 2022, to prepare for the 2022-2023 school year. Today our school is hosting our music conference large group contest from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. You will see students from other schools using the band and choir rooms to warm up in. Performances will be held in the HS and Community Gyms. Because of this, the gyms will be unavailable for you to go into after 8:30 am. Please get anything you might need before that time. Thank you.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has announced the members of the next Wisconsin Agriculture Youth Council. The fifteen students, who will be high school seniors during the 2022 – 2023 school year, will serve a one-year term on the council. Congratulations to Talena Sprecher for being chosen to serve on the council.

Texas broadening civil rights laws The Supreme Court issues a momentous ruling that clarified the way that the American legal system handled charges of discrimination. In Hernandez v. National Teacher Appreciation Week - May 2nd-May 6th
This Wednesday, May 4th, the 5-7th grade students will have an informational meeting about a potential trip to Washington DC in the summer of 2024. The trip is only open to this year's 5-7th grade students. The meeting will be at 3pm in the multipurpose room and we will be handing out packets with details and a link for a livestream meeting on May 12th that will answer any questions you have about the trip. There are no prerequisites to go, this is for any student interested in going. Ms. Schmitt and Ms. Durkin will be chaperoning the trip along with others in the company. Please stay tuned for more information as we go along! This is an exciting opportunity for the kids :)

This Day in History: April 2, 1992 Riots erupt in Los Angeles after police officers are acquitted in Rodney King trial In Los Angeles, California, four Los Angeles police officers that had been caught beating an unarmed African American motorist in an amateur video are acquitted of any wrongdoing in the arrest. Ithaca second graders recently had a visit from WCCU's Buck the Dog and his friends Julie Doudna and Ashley Toussaint. Students learned about savings accounts, interest, needs and wants, saving and spending. It was a fun and informative visit. Thank you WCCU!
Congratulations Ithaca High School Forensics!
This year, 2,474 students in 1,892 entries, representing 306 schools advanced to the State Wisconsin High School Forensic Association Festival. The top five percent of medal-earning schools are recognized with Excellence in Speech Awards, and the top six to ten percent of medal-earning schools are recognized with Distinction in Speech Awards.
All of Ithaca's 18 students advanced to the 2022 state contest. At the conclusion of this year's State Contest held at DeForest High School, Ithaca High School earned a Distinction in Speech Award for the performances of our students.
Since 1895, the Wisconsin High School Forensic Association (WHSFA) has provided programming for middle and high school students in theatre, debate, and public speaking activities. Each year, the nonprofit organization serves about 10,000 Wisconsin students from 375 high schools, and 150 middle schools in the longest-running high school speech contests in the nation.
This season's team was led by coaches Juli Thompson, Louise Murphey, Chay Schmitt, and Emily Zorea. Seniors Emma Schoen and Brooklynn Granger received the coveted Gold Medallion for earning perfect scores every year at the state contests. Team members also included: seniors Nicholas King and Carissa Willis; juniors Brooklyn Freestone, Alana Nelson, Elise Newkirk, Kyla Pluemer, Talena Sprecher, Erica Steinmetz; sophomores Logan Anderson, Caleb Birkrem, Emma Coy, Josie Laue, and Kaylee Peterson; freshmen Allison Durst, Maggie Gschwind, and Holly King.

Welcome to Las Vegas! The Junior class is excited to bring you a Las Vegas themed prom held April 30th from 8-11:30 at the White House. Admission is $10. The Ithaca FFA will be selling over 200 hanging baskets and planters in addition to some 3 packs of annuals and started tomato plants. We will be open on April 30th from 10 am-2 pm, May 1 from 2 pm- 5 pm and after school until 5 pm on the weekdays until we sell out. Please help support our FFA and FFA students working hard at their SAE project. Funds will help pay for conferences, competitions and travel to these events. If these times don't work for you, please message me and I can set up a time for you to come pick out plants.

School records are being broken this track season! Congratulations to the Ithaca/Weston Girls 3200-meter relay team as they set a new school record last night at Kickapoo by over 10 seconds. The relay team of Emma Coy, Kaylee Peterson, Tierney Powell, and Kaylee Miller won the event in a time of 10 minutes and 45.60 seconds. Well done!
