Join us in the fall! There is and will continue to be a great need for substitute teachers in the classrooms. Get your substitute teaching license by completing a course offered by CESA. CESA 3 will be holding a substitute teacher training in Fennimore on Tuesday, June 7 at 9 AM.

As an FCCLA project Katarina Weitzel is planning to refurbish used sweaters and blankets to create mittens and scarves for people in need in surrounding areas. To help her out with this project she would greatly appreciate it if you would consider donating old and unwanted sweaters and blankets. If you wish to donate any of these items, you can either give them directly to Katarina or take them to Ms. Stocks’s room.

A treasured member of the Ithaca Community and the greater area has passed away. Ruth Anderson was an eternal example of love, selflessness, humility, grace, and especially an example of sharing those gifts to all around her. Ithaca Public Schools extends deepest sympathies to Ruth’s husband, Neal, who has fulfilled many roles at Ithaca. The loss of Ruth is felt deeply by the many students, staff, and community who call her family. Our sentiments extend to them as well. To all our Ithaca and surrounding communities who are hurting by the loss of such a remarkable woman, we also send you our sympathies.
A life as well-lived as Ruth Anderson’s touches so many. Some of whom will never know the value she brought to their lives.

Congratulations to the Ithaca/Weston Track and Field team on their outstanding efforts at sectionals! We certainly have a lot to be proud of! Complete results are on the WIAA site.
Ty Kershner placed 4th in the Long Jump with a distance of 19’10".
Kaylee Peterson is the Sectional Champion in the 400m race with a winning time of 59.36s.
Kaylee Peterson is also the Sectional Champion in the 800m race with a winning time of 2:19.49 (and a new school record).
Caleb Marchwick placed 2nd in the Shotput with a distance of 47’6.75".
Caleb Marchwick also placed 2nd in the Discus with a throw of 155’06" (and a new school record).

Congratulations to Ty Kershner on being selected as a 2022 DeKalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award winner! This is a national award presented to students who exemplify achievement in scholarship, commitment and work ethic.


In Library Class, 5th grade students completed citizenship or government research projects. Working in teams of two, students selected their topic, read a book and online source, took notes, and created presentations. Over the past two weeks, each student group presented their research to high school students, and answered questions about their presentation topic from the audience. Well done, 5th grade!

As an academic and entertaining field trip, Ithaca Middle School 8th Graders travelled to Devil's Lake State Park. Students explored the park and enjoyed a day together. This has been a trip students and staff alike look forward to each year. Thank you, staff and chaperones for making this possible.

The school year is drawing to a close, and the stellar careers of three Ithaca School District staff members are wrapping up as well. Collectively, these long-time staff members have been influencing our students for almost 100 years!
Mary Beth Behrens, band director and instrumental music teacher is retiring after yielding her baton for 34 years.
Barb Michel has served many roles in our building over her 28 years, most recently as an administrative assistant.
Kris Willis has guided students in the middle school classroom for 34 years.
We wish all our retirees a very happy future, and we thank them for all they have provided our students, staff, and community.
