Gifted & Talented/Learning Enrichment Activities Program

ITHACA GIFTED AND TALENTED/LEARNING ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES PROGRAM (GT/LEAP)

The purpose of the GT/LEAP program is to provide each student with what they need to stay engaged and excited about school.  We offer subject compaction, acceleration, and subject and grade skipping.  Additionally, there are many enrichment activities that vary from student to student and year to year to meet your child's needs.  Counseling is also available to gifted learners when needed.

K-2nd Grades: The gifted and talented coordinator comes into the classroom and works on differentiated activities designed by the coordinator and the classroom teacher for each student. These may include but are not limited to book studies, math games or differentiated math curriculum, science activities, and genius hour. All second graders are given the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) to test for problem solving and critical thinking capabilities. Other standard testing done includes PALS, F&P, and iReady.
